Title: New to this forum stuff, but not to otomes
Post by: GDLSstudios on June 21, 2018, 06:09:47 AM
So hi there! My name is Gina and I am an avid otome lover lol.
As I stated, I am new to this forum but have been playing otomes for over ten years now. I could try to list all the otomes I have played but I would likely forget a few. Let's just say if it has been translated to english, there is a high chance I have played it. I can say a few I haven't played such as Hatoful Boyfriend, My Horse Prince, and a number of the ones available in the app stores. I mostly prefer to own the game, so if I can purchase the pathlines for a set price, then I will go for it. The Forbidden Love games are a few I have indulged in on my ipad, as well as owning Amnesia. I own Code:Realize and Norn 9 for my vita, and it was well worth purchasing a vita for them. Recently I played through Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds and Edo Blossoms, then Dandelion. I tend to replay certain ones each year or so and those include the Dot Kareshi series, YoJinBo, Nameless, Second Reproduction, Matches and Matrimony, Princess Nightmare, Princess of Ruin and most of the ones released by Winter Wolves though they can debatedly be considered more RPGs than VNs.
All in all, I guess my favorites right now would have to be Mystic Messenger (Jumin Han is easily my fav 2D hubby of all time lol), 10 Days With My Demon, Hakuoki (just the story itself, any version really but the newest two parter was really outstanding), and the first otome I ever played by Pacthesis, Festival Days Sim Date. It all started with that one story, then I discovered RE: Alistair and it just grew to becoming one of my most cherished hobbies and pasttimes.
I have never really thought to seek out like minded people regarding otomes, but lately after I finished Dandelion I realized how nice it would have been to brag that I finally beat the game that about six years ago had fought me to a standstill and I lost. I couldn't get even one decent ending, but this time I did it no fuss! Just goes to show that if you play enough of these games, you learn how to play them all lol.
I also am an aspiring writer, and have hopes of writing my own otomes but it's mostly just a dream right now. I enjoy playing otomes far too much to really feel confident about adding to the market and hoping to appeal to my fellow readers. If I could sell my ideas though, that way I could end up playing them someday, that would be cool! :giggle:
Anyways, to wrap this up, I am looking forward to being a small part of the community here, and hope I can make some memories and share some laughs! Looking forward to it!

Hi Gina! Welcome to KC!

I haven't played Dandelion myself but it's funny how you say when you play enough of these games you learn to play them all. I think I'm conditioned now to select answers I think the character likes rather than what I would actually pick. Sadly enough some of that has carried into my real life too. :wry:

A lot of the games you listed I noticed are older titles. Have you tried any new otome games lately that you can recommend? I've been swamped with work and haven't had the time to actually play anything new. I need some recommendations!
