Title: Manga and anime discussion
Post by: Sakuragawa on July 01, 2014, 08:48:51 PM
Let's talk about アニメ and 漫画  Or whatever related. C'mon.  :bash:
Just trying to find something to talk about with y'all and liven the place up.

Some questions to get us started:
Do you like manga or anime more?
What languages do you like to read/watch in?
What genre, content, demographic do you like/fit into?
What anime/manga are you planning to watch/read?
What are you currently watching/reading?
If you don't read/watch manga/anime, why don't you?

Spent the last hour typing this. Hate typing from my phone.

Do you like manga or anime more?
This falls under "it depends." I usually like the thing that I started viewing first, but I like the extra explanations and omake found in manga. In regard to artistic preference, while I like the cell shading and general lineart in anime, unless it is a high budget movie with a high number of frames per second, it often changes how manga characters look because of animation difficulty. Like how difficult it is to preserve Arina Tanemura's style. I find it weird when anime has all those rendered graphics, which sharply contrasts with the flatter-looking figures or painted backgrounds.

Manga is an art form. You've got to plan the panels and composition. One has got to appreciate the mangaka who still use press-in screentones, rather than screentoning digitally. Like Strauss from Record of a Fallen Vampire said before the final mission, creating manga digitally makes everything too easy. But people these days are cheap, and it sure caused me to scan all my purchased screentones for future digital use.

What languages do you like to read/watch in?
I prefer watching subbed Japanese shows, but I can tolerate things dubbed into English. However, make out scenes sound so wrong to me in English. Being illiterate to Japanese, I only read stuff in English.

What genre, content, demographic do you like/fit into?
I go for fantasy, science fiction, and, of course, romance. I have a special place in my heart for mechas and dystopian societies. I usually cannot stand slice of life anime, but I am fine with reading them as manga.

What anime/manga are you planning to watch/read?
These. (http://http://www.anime-planet.com/users/Aiwethryne/anime/wanttowatch)

What are you currently watching/reading?
Hard to say. I have stalled on dozens of anime, but here's an idea of what I intend to prioritize.
http://www.anime-planet.com/users/Aiwet ... e/watching (http://www.anime-planet.com/users/Aiwethryne/anime/watching) and http://www.anime-planet.com/users/Aiwet ... me/stalled (http://www.anime-planet.com/users/Aiwethryne/anime/stalled).

That site I linked is a quaint, diverting little place that I've spent too much time looking through, but I can't possibly remember the titles of every manga I have read and I never keep track of which episodes I stop at. I start so many series, but I usually only finish entire series if I can watch them in bulk in a few sittings.

I have not been all that active lately watching anime because the only way I can watch anything is either on television or through my phone or tablet. My tablet has no room for Crunchyroll because of all my games, and I'm tied to doing stuff on my phone. I used to be able to multitask playing games, drawing, and watching anime at the same time, but ever since my computer died it is a one task per day sort of deal.

And this is my boring history with anime and manga.

I grew up with things like Pokémon, Digimon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon, and Dragon Ball Z. I remember being six when Pokemon first came on television and being teased for being too young to watch it, according to the show ratings. I'd try my best to wake up at, I dunno, 6:30am on Saturdays for Sailor Moon. My sib would sometimes watch, too, and later asked me if I would watch Tokyo Mew Mew again if it re-aired on tv. And that is a yes. My first anime crush was Yoh Asakura from Shaman King.

There was a point in time in which my father forbade us from watching Pokémon because it was supposedly corrupting our minds, so I missed a great deal of some seasons. It was because of my father's antagonism towards anime in general that I was terrified to reveal how much I liked it. I would buy manga in secret and cherished them so much. Whenever we went outside, I made it a habit of memorizing every anime and manga title I saw so that I could write them down on a random collection of papers I would draw on.

I'm already forgetting my timeline, but either before middle school or right at the start of it my sib and I would watch Excel Saga together. When my sib claimed that I was "mature enough to see breast fondling," we started watching Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. Those were the good days, watching anime morning and night together. We watched things like Air TV, Fate/Stay Night, School Rumble (my sib said one of his friends was actually the English voice of Eri), Higurashi, Tales of Phantasia OVA, Tales of Symphonia OVA, Lucky Star, Utawarerumono... He'd often show me anime openings, and I was too transparent in that I would write down the titles while things were buffering.

Some time later I started actively drawing manga because I was so enamoured with CLAMP's stills shown in Code Geass and Arina Tanemura's very obvious style. I joined an amateur manga-making site, but things were pretty shaky because I'd get in trouble with my father over the computer a lot. With the group, I had one of my oneshots self-published in one of our printed magazines, sold at certain anime conventions. I became one of the moderators of that site. Over the years, I have joined several forums for people who make manga. But I'm really lame because I never really progressed in anything. It's one of my biggest regrets in life. Four years and two years since.

I once considered joining a scanlation team as a cleaner, but I do way too much. I'd rather draw my own manga than do that. So I just chatted with people on certain scanlation sites frequently.

Um... yeah...

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question XD.

I'll answer my own questions now.
I like manga more. I watch in English, Japanese, and Cantonese. I read in English, and mostly look at the pictures for manga in Japanese, Chinese, and Italian since I only know understand a lil bit. I like josei, shounen, seinen, shoujo, yaoi, hentai, action, comedy, mystery, and smut.

I'm currently focusing on watching Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei. Trying to catch up on all the Spring anime I'm watching. Previously I spent all my anime time watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventure(2012), so I'm going to hold off on Stardust Crusaders for now or I'll never be able to get Jojo off my mind. >///< Sure I was also watching Saint Seiya with my family in Cantonese, Jojo's been dominating my mind. Saints aren't far behind though uwah. Saint Seiya Omega is next. And manga after anime.

Of course I'm pretty darn excited for the upcoming anime, particularly the Summer season. Dramatical Murder, Free!, Kuroshitsuji, Strange+, Sailor Moon; just to name a few. Also Code Geass and Persona 3, who knows when they're be out subbed though.

Haven't logged onto animeplanet in a while. I always import my stuff from MAL. I use mangaupdates to track my manga consumption but I don't always keep track of everything I read and watch.

Oh oh oh! I'm trying to find a manga I read before. I don't know what tags were exactly set on it, but it was definitely a shoujo romance story set in high school. Go figure. I am summarizing the entire story.

It was about an extremely beautiful girl who would date any guy but tell all of them that if they want to date her, they'll essentially be dating her best friend and they need to keep her best friend as top priority. She dumps them if they don't comply. Her best friend is considered plain-looking but is very selfless. I think her name was Haru... The pretty girl dates an exceedingly kind guy, but once he and the pretty girl are alone, he admits that he is glad the other girl is not there like always. She dumps him immediately.

The boy's best friend thinks the pretty girl is such a fake and starts bullying her best friend, but he is surprised how much that girl is just like his best friend. He thinks that the plain girl is cute enough and still hates the pretty girl for dumping his best friend, but he earnestly tries to get the plain girl to like him. The pretty girl begrudgingly accepts the guy and allows him to date the plain girl, but she reminds him that she plans to be with her forever.

Yeah, I think that's what happened.

I evidently only registered on Anime Planet a couple months ago or something, but that is the only site I have like that. Only joined so that I could record what I've been watching. Not so much whatever I read because I read whatever my eyes fall on. But even though AP has a large database of anime, it still does not account for many of the old things I have watched, like a few 70s Japanese erotica anime movies. *shifty eyes*

hmm...never read it....I know Mangafox (http://http://mangafox.me) and Mangahere (http://http://www.mangahere.co) which also have a huugeee database of mangas. On both of them you can register and I assume you can subscribe the mangas you have read. (you can also find mangas by tags on both of them....tho I suppose all manga sites have them '3')
I hope these sites will be helpful :>

Yes. I have had a Mangafox account for several years, but I was actually, ahem, recruiting people for something. Never really liked the forum, though. It was way too frequent to get spam PMs.

Anyway, as I mentioned, I don't know what tags were exactly listed. If I did, it would be that much easier to find. All I think I kind of remember was that it might have had the "shoujo" tag and not the tag that has to do with school... Maybe. And that was it. How easy will it be to sift through that...? I vaguely remember seeing it through Manga Updates when I was looking through categories, but that is all my mind is willing to surrender.

DUUUUUDE~~~ My rescuer! Thank you~~~ I've been so crazy trying to remember that for some reason. I have such trouble remembering those types of titles. I can remember long English titles really easily, but Romanizations don't seem to want to enter my brain.

I only truly started watching Inuyasha and other ones many children started out with a few years ago on television because we had the simplest, limited number of broadcast channels all the way until I was in high school. I think. Since I could not watch anything else, it made me utterly obsessed with television guides from the newspaper and I'd stare at titles and wonder what they were about. I'm so neurotic.

I am sure that a lot of us in this generation came into anime and manga the same general way. My mother would make fun of me for still watching cartoons, in spite of my age, but this is a cultural phenomenon. Even my dad watches cartoons, though everything he watches are Marvel and DC related things that he suspects are drawn by Filipino people. It makes me wish that my dad were actually into manga, from his time as an exchange student in Japan, but I guess that making do with his enjoyment of western comics is fine enough.

While I want to continue Free!, is it strange that, even though I'm completely immune to reading smutty manga, I find watching muscular anime men flexing absurdly intimidating? Somehow I feel as though it is because I am so used to the hardcore hentai stuff that exploits the female physique, so seeing a man is just... DDDDDD8 *mental scarring* I think it's sort of on the level with how I can see gore in still frames and not be phased, but as soon as it moves I'll feel some massive system failure.

Hehe np! I hardly remember names as well but i happened to have had that one bookmarked on my browser.

I got my mom into Kdramas which in turn got my dad into Kdramas and then i got my sister into them...MUAHAHAHA. but for the life of me i cannot get my mom to watch anime. She refuses and since i got her into kdramas she can no longer use the excuse that its in another language. Though I did get her into watching the live action movies of manga so that a step... but yeah my point was, she doesn't understand why i like watching anime and stuff even though all three of her children do. And forget my dad he barely understands english let alone another language. Though he somehow manages to watch kdramas which i find funny.

At first i was kinda creeped out by their muscles since im not a fan of muscles but i found myself anticipating the next episode. plus i really like Rei(one with the glasses) i just like to see what he will do next.

I remember waking up early on Saturday mornings to watch anime on Fox and WB. Those were the days. heh

Actually my parents are the ones that got me into anime. When I was little I watched stuff like Doraemon, Chibi Maruko-chan, Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball. Also Tokusatsu, such as Ultraman Tiga and Kamen Rider Kuuga. They were Cantonese dubbed. I remember being scared of the monsters in the shows.

My parents don't approve of me watching what they perceive to be scary/violent anime though. And they think I watch too many Japanese dubs.

I got into manga since there was a fair number of manga at my local library, such as Gravitation and Petshop of Horrors.

Looking at the airing dates of the summer anime, it looks like I'll be watching Free! and Bakumatsu Rock soon.

I don't see the problem with half naked men, maybe cuz I watch a lot of shounen anime and such. They don't have too much muscle. They have athletic bodies but it's not like they're bodybuilders, and they not smooth like a shoujo manga guy. Just look at the bodies of the guys in Toriko and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Extreme XD. That might help you get over the Free! guys...
Oh but I guess the flexing/warm-ups does look weird. I remember being weirded out when I saw Makoto warming up before his turn to swim. *O* You don't see that everyday.

edit:
Watching Free! ES    X'D Love it! OLDCODEX performs the opening again banzai! O/ The PV made me sad due to the music but the anime is very fun~ :cloud9:

As far as anime I like, it really just depends on the story, studio, or director. Since I don't have copious amounts of free time to spend watching anime for hours, I just cherry pick a show or two each season and watch to the end or or until I get bored with it. With manga, it's all about the story. I can usually look past overly simplistic or just awkward artwork unless it's absolutely terrible. I'm more in it for the story so if the first few chapters do a good job introducing characters, setting up the world and plot, and don't make the pacing feel weird then I'm in until the mangaka jumps the shark or something if it's a long running series.

Ah, Free! It honestly surprised me by not being too focused on fanservice although it's kinda hard to do so with a mostly male cast. I guess the moments when they dramatically undress when they're about to swim is enough fanservice. Seriously, those muscles were so defined they were practically unreal. :shock2: I'm definitely watching season 2 this summer since the story was good enough for me to be interested in the guys. I'm also joining in the masses for the Sailor Moon Crystal premiere this weekend. It was the first anime show I watched as a kid (that and Samurai Pizza Cats) so it holds a special place in my heart as my gateway to anime.

Anime I'm watching now... I'm just going through a backlog of stuff from the past few years that I overlooked for some reason or another. Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, Silver Spoon, Nichijou, Watamote. The only current show I'm watching now is the new Mushi-shi. I was absolutely entranced by the first season.

Oh, it was THIS weekend for Sailor Moon? Good to know~ Watamote~ I am feeling more like her every day... It's sad. *eye bags*

And I can stare at super-muscled guys and not be bothered. It's only the range in between lanky and steroids that causes my eyes to ?__?....  ?____?? I once actually went on some confession site months ago about my issue with how much it freaks me out, and suddenly all these men started commenting with pictures of guys with six-packs. LOL

Oh, yes. I had read that manga shown in your sig, Sakuragawa. A long while back, though, so I have no memory what it was about.

Sailor Moon is on every 1st & 3rd Saturday starting on July 5 at 3AM PST/6AM EST.
Should I not sleep or what? I have difficulty waking up and sleeping early.

So Ai-san, you're saying that this:

I don't think any of these guys have 6-packs.

As for me, so long as the guys don't show too much down "there"(outside of sex) :cop: It's all good.

But when the guys strip in the Shall We Date? games, I get embarrassed/uncomfortable. Even though it doesn't bother me at other times, like in anime.

What about when "it" throbs/twitches? ;)

And have you seen Bakumatsu Rock?

Ninja Love's naked scenes are quaint at best. Destiny Ninja's cloud-over-crotch also makes me laugh. But I can't say that I've ever seen an animation of it twitching. Sounds like another round of laughter from me. The closest things I can think of were Inukami!'s elephant censors and Kanashimi no Belladonna rhythmic visuals.

This is the time in which I wish there were a hidden mature discussions section. I don't like creating euphemisms for organs.

And I've seen that but never watched it. So many things to catch up on~

Yeah, I knew that was what you were getting at. XD; As the forum does not have age markers, hiding mature content is more to keep it from those who find blatant references to such things to be distasteful while they are not logged in. Just as perverts exist in all ages, the same holds true of the conservative mentality.

So Sailor Moon Crystal is out, now~~? It looks like it's up on Crunchyroll. Yatta. That hopefully means it has been subbed~ I'll try to watch it before I possibly lose the computer in a couple hours.

Watching~~ Even though I like how the animation flows, that obvious pre-rendering in the opening and transformation scenes just look so out of place. Ah, it's sad how this computer cannot play videos as readily as they can on my phone.

BTW! Doraemon aired on American television starting this Monday! I started recording it, so I am excited to watch what other little children used to watch.

...bahahah. I have been playing Sailor Moon Crystal's opening song on repeat for hours, and then I refreshed the screen and it was already banished.       Now got the fan guitar solo cover. Yessss.
Title: Re: Manga and anime discussion
Post by: Sakuragawa on July 08, 2014, 09:15:02 PM
:giggle: The opening for Crystal is more generic/plain compared to Moonlight Densetsu. The guitar at the end of the opening was good though. It gave off an action shoujo feeling.

Ah yes I recall reading that Doraemon was going to be altered for American broadcast. :hammer: It might be amusing to see comparisons but I do not want to watch it. At first I thought you were talking about the new Doraemon movie but it's not out yet. It's not like I can watch TV anymore though with the switch to digital or w/e.

Ai-san have you watched it yet? What did you think of it?
I can't imagine the characters actually speaking in English. Since Nobita is a weakling, maybe he would sound like Ikari Shinji?   jk

I started watching the first episode of Doraemon, but I got distracted and stopped. I heard their voices, though. Those strange, probably adult people trying to sound like children...

I actually liked Crystal's opening more because I generally prefer more modern pop, or whatever genre that is, over the 90s stuff. Although it is iconic and easy to remember in the long run, 90s stuff just about gives me nostalgic congestion and reminds me of Rose of Versailles or Revolutionary Girl Utena music. The animation in Crystal's opening was generic, though. Give me something more like Pretty Cure's older openings, and I'll be happy. Hmm... Though now that I am looking back on those Precure openings, my memory oversensationalized them. =w=

Watched the pre-showing audience reaction of Crystal on NicoNico, and, hah. All those fangirls went crazy over the appearance of the male antagonists in the opening. I personally went squealy over Mamoru's megane-ness. I did not even realize it was him until I watched the opening a few more times. He looked so much like a teacher... I guess that is what draws people to match up a 14-year-old with a college student. I think he was a college student. Bah, vague memories.

There are a lot of good promising anime this season. (?'?'?)/
My favorites are currently Free! ES and DRAMAtical Murder. Others I'm watching are Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus, Tokyo Ghoul, Rail Wars, Love Stage!!, Bakumatsu Rock, Sailor Moon: Crystal, and Gundam-san . Persona 4 Golden Animation was disappointing. Have yet to start some.

I'm just watching the anime for now. I've been planning to play the game for a while but never got around to downloading it. I figured that I might as well finish watching the anime first since it definitely won't have the 18+ parts and I don't know how explicit it is going to be. I have no idea what the story is. The art is great. I feel that if I were to play the game now, I'd be comparing it to the anime too much and feel disappointed.

Well...The game itself has a decent plot. So far in the anime, they have changed a couple of things thats not like the game. Not including the yaoi parts b/c honestly those scenes aren't until you actually choose a route and even then its later in the character route.

Watching the anime so far has disappointed me b/c some scenes I was looking forward in seeing animated weren't :(

I forgot to watch episode 2 >A<. I'll watch it when I wake up later. Mustn't forget to check animecalendar anymore.

Finally gotten to watch DMMD episode 2. I wonder how many episodes there'll be. I hope there'll be at least a full season of at least 24 episodes. I didn't know Aoba was so sensitive there~.

It depends. Sometimes I prefer watching the anime like because I want to watch the fights and see the emotions more.

It doesnt seem like there will be more than 12 episodes considering how fast past its going. The anime is just zooming past things with hardly any breaks.
The common route in the game is really loooooooooong. then having to remove bl scenes here and there...can't imagine the anime having much to it since after the common route its the character route. and like most otome/game based anime, they hardly ever surpass 12 episodes. Only like 3 come to mind...

Even though Sailor Moon Crystal is a reboot, seeing all the new technology — the flat screen computers — seems almost wrong. It's so hard not to compare things. But, urg. I just really dislike those prerendered scenes. If it was going to be a scene that fans and little children would see every episode, why couldn't they have made those parts looks, well, better? Despite how the characters are atrociously thin and tall in the manga, I always preferred how they looked like in the old anime since they seemed to have bones under that skin and not metal rods.

I didn't want to reply to this thread until I watched the latest episode of DMMD but~ hngh I want more episodes.
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun and Barakamon is good. Watched the first episode. I like that bike, I'd like to ride one. Who can I trust to ride with me? Is it even possible with four people?
Free! ES gets better and better! Hope it doesn't disappoint. I like Momo! Sou is out of place.
I want to start Shin Strange Plus and Yami Shibai, but I haven't finished the first seasons yet.
I don't know about Gundam-san. It's just WTF. So OOC.

Watching ep 3 of dmmd made me cringe hardcore... The animation was so horrid. at least they
added the kiss scene
but i think im going to stop watching it so i dont further ruin my favorite moments.

Oh man! I love Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun! When I found out it was becoming an anime I fangirled!

So far free! has been good and Barakamon has just made me laugh so much.

Anyone watch Season 3 of Kuroshitsuji? I just love it and the animation is so breathtaking. I was not a fan of season 2 b/c i like things to stick to the manga...

@Aiwethryne  Yeah the new one isn't aesthetically appealing to me but I do enjoy watching for the sake of it being Sailor Moon.

I'm watching Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus too. It must've been that I've read it in the manga already, but it's not as exciting as I was hoping it to be. Sure, I stop and stare at Ciel for 5 minutes before continuing every episode, but I think he is cuter in the first season. Particularly, the eyes. I also do no like this arc very much, save for Snake. :) I want to watch the further arcs, the ones after the murder mystery one~

I should really try watching Kuroshitsuji one day. I remember that years ago I first noticed the manga while it was still only around Chapter 13 and thought that I should read it. However, some time later I began to notice all the strange fangirlism going on, and that impacted my will to read or later watch it. I think I'll start with the anime so that I can multitask.

Yeah that was me too. I saw Kuroshitsuji in its early years but never touched it b/c of the fandom. I thought it was bl when i first came across it b/c of all that was posted about it... I finally caved in during the 40s and been hooked ever since.

The anime drifted of on its own but now with season 3 its back on track and left a lot who haven't read the manga confused. Because as i said, Season 2 doesn't exist in the manga and was a complete filler. Season 1 started on track then drifted on its own here and there. So If you watch the anime your're getting a completely different story than the orig.

...The 40s...?

...OH! Chapters. Yes, yes. I was thinking the 1940s for some reason.

IKR. They just connected everything as BL, so it was so easy for people like us to misunderstand. I was more weired out by the fandom, though, and I knew that I would be seeing references everywhere if I began. Almost like the same questionable vibes I get from seeing certain intense Homestuck and Hetalia fans.

I'm currently watching JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders. I'm behind on the other anime that's currently airing except Free!, but I'll continue watching sooner or later.

I was watching Terror in Resonance, but stopped once they introduced that girl they knew.

I dropped P4GA after one episode. The animation isn't good enough for me to put up with it, and Marie. Granted that I haven't played the game, I don't think I can get into. They lost me after Persona 4 for PS2. I watched a few episode of P4A but stopped since I never finished the game. :P Waiting for more of the P3 movie/anime.

As for manga...all I've been reading lately is hentai...*coughs* Up for recommendations. It's hard to find good completed manga that are not overly long and complicated, and tragic, and lame.

I haven't watched a single anime episode outside of the television for a long time now. Ironically, I am watching The Legend of Korra's latest episodes on an anime site right now because they have not been airing on tv, and I totally don't know how showing seasons work.

...And OTL I've been reading a lot hentai, too, lately. And cheesy shoujo manga. Started reading the manga versions of Heart no Kuni, and it is tempting me to go out and buy all the volumes. I probably shall.

What are your top 5(or so) anime (this season)?

I'm currently behind on watching anime, and I'm trying to decide what to watch out of the long(100+) list of anime I'm watching. I'm alternating between watching JoJo, Mahouka, Gekkan Shoujo, and Free! as of now(too lazy to type out the full titles). I'm only up to date with Free! Free!ES is my #1 this season.

Hello!
My Top 5 Anime this season would be:
1. Zankyou no Terror
2. Tokyo Ghoul
3. Kuroshitsuji book of circus
4. Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
5. Free! Eternal Summer

Jojo is on my plan to watch list and I dropped Mahouka after seeing 7 eps, Idk if I'll pick it up again though. What's your thoughts on it?
Title: Re: Manga and anime discussion
Post by: Sakuragawa on September 01, 2014, 05:20:14 AM
I think the first few episodes of Mahouka are rather slow and not much happens, and I didn't really know what direction this anime would take since the beginning had a different setting from the school that threw me. I think the anime gets more interesting around episode 13--about halfway through, when they have the competition between schools. That is when the students show off their skills. I like the MC. He's strong, cool, refined, educated, smart, handsome, etc.

I'm a bit reluctant to continue Zankyou no Terror, since they introduced that girl. I'm afraid that the show is going to go in a very different direction than it had been until that point. Sphinx v. Shibasaki.
Generally I do not like girls in my anime and the less the better. B/C they are annoying and mess with people.

I see. Actually I started watching it because of the male lead LOL! He's so handsome and in the story he's intelligent as well, so yeah.. I also got hooked cos of the fighting scenes and that's what I always anticipate the most! I just kind of lost interest cos of his sister. I cringe everytime her bro complex. Thank you for telling your thoughts! I might pick it up again.

Is that so? Do you mean Five? I see. As for me, I'm really enjoying it. Idk but I love everything about it and also I really love Watanabe's works.. prolly that's why I'm always looking forward to it!

Ah! I have been reading this manga named "Shinobi life" and it has been really bugging me! I just had to say my mind >.<
"From Konnichiwa: Many, many years ago, a ninja named Kagetora devoted his life to protecting Princess Beni (”Beni-Hime”). Unfortunately, they were attacked and Kagetora was flung into a lake, and sank to the bottom… And is somehow warped to the future where he sees the princess Beni being kidnapped. Little does Kagetora know that Beni is not the real princess, but rather her descendant. Beni, on the other hand, thought that Kagetora was just a cosplayer. Beni, the daughter of a rich man has already been kidnapped a hundred times already... But fear not because Kagetora is here. Will Kagetora be able to go back to the past, or will he remain by Beni’s side forever?" - just copy and pasted it from the description :P

So it's basically about Kagetora and Beni's "love-formation"

I like the art of the manga, If you look closely, the drawing actually improves along the way, that was a huge plus :>

As for the story, I like how their love starts, altho I kind of see clichés here and there, but it's good, it's good. I also liked how time splitting makes a bit sence
like when they (Kagetora and Beni) fall on the flood Kagetora says that he kind of feels like they did the same thing before, while for Beni, it was their first. Note: they just fall on the floor, kiss with Beni on top and entwine fingers! that is all! Who had perverted thoughts!? Eh? eh? O'.'o
But the thing that really bugs me is that, Beni's father! Aaargghh~~!!  :angry2:
At first when he sees Kagetora, he tests Kagetora if he can be suitable bodyguard for Beni and poor thing, he gets hit several times T.T. Then, the father argues with Beni, that she can't be together with Kagetora because he's from other era and they were not supposed to meet at the first place! After that, the father hits Kagetora for arguing with him about Beni's life and freedom. But theeeen! after a few chapters, the father is suddenly Hachikuma (!!!) who is from same era as Kagetora and his best friend's "ex-teacher"(which means that he knows Kagetora), who was supposed to be dead.

Phew~, I think I'm good now. This is some good ranting/nonsense from me :>
Oh and, I recommend for those who haven't read it yet to read ^^. It's a completed manga with 13 volumes, 64 chapters with 1 or 2 extra?

Haha ive actually read this manga years ago and could not remember the name of it when it was brought up just the other day with my sister. Such a coincidence!

I personally liked it at the time i was reading it but looking back on it now it kinda annoys me!

I liked Kagetora's "friend" idk why but i always have a soft spot for those kind of characters...  :blush2:

I tried the first chapter of Shinobi Life. Couldn't get into it.
It didn't make enough sense to me. The characters' behaviors are weird. The worst thing is how dumb they all are. The SD drawings were annoying too and usually they are my favorites. First few pages in I knew I wouldn't like this manga because the pacing of the story was weird, er the panels didn't really transition well. It doesn't draw me in, rather it nags at me with the many faults in plain view. The Chinese names also threw me off.
What gives?

I've seen better time travel stories. I have three to recommend, all stories about Nobunaga though. Out of the three, Sengoku Strays is my favorite.
It's about a girl named Kasane who is transported into the Sengoku era and joins Nobunaga's army as a soldier. There are a fair amount of bishounen including Nobunaga(though the characters call him Kazusanosuke when referring to him by name) himself. :3

The second manga is Nobunaga no Chef, about a present day chef that winds up back in time and becoming Nobunaga's chef. It feels much more serious than Sengoku Strays but Ken is cool so yeah. :) It's pretty intense.

Third is Nobunaga Concerto. I'm watching the anime but haven't read the manga. The art is kinda weird and takes some getting used to but it's not bad. About a guy named Saburou who falls off a fence and goes back in time. He stands in for Nobunaga and decides to take over Japan or something, according to the textbook.

BTW, this Fall season's anime line-up seems promising. There's the 2nd season of Jojo part 3, Kiseijuu AKA Parasyte(which is finally getting an anime), Terra Formers(gross, but can't stop watching), Garo(dunno how the anime will fare but the live-action is good), Donten ni Warau(the manga's really good, bishounen are bountiful *^w^*), Nanatsu no Taizai(excellent shounen manga), Akatsuki no Yona(Yona's a cutie, and there are plenty of hot men cuz it's shoujo, and there's plot), Psycho-Pass 2(kinda not that excited about it w/o the thing with Kogami and Makishima).

Jfjwndnd OMG THAT with the title I can't type is getting an anime?!?!?!? Coincidentally, I was reading the latest chapters again a few hours ago.

After my psychology test, I went to the shoujo filter to quickly get to all the romance junk I read once in a while. Just seeing how they rank in popularity makes me... I feel odd. But ironic that I flung myself back to innocent romance, when I've likely read over a thousand oneshots on the other end of the spectrum over the last month. *ahem* I've really just got to stop that train. My brain feels like mud because of that overexposure.

I was rewatching random episodes of certain anime for reasons of research, but it doesn't seem as fresh repeating them, even if I last watched them years ago. Really want to watch some new stuff that doesn't require me to glue my eyes to the screen to understand the story details. I can only multitask, darn it.

Donten ni Warau's ending theme, "ATTITUDE TO LIFE" by Galneryus sounds amazing! So Good~! Recently finished reading the manga. The feelz. T^T The ending theme sounds so bittersweet, it gets the feeling across. I don't know what the genre of music it's called(power rock?, power ballad?), but it's beautiful and nostalgic, like a 90's anime. Looping this song. The full song is even better.

I don't know why but I've been replaying the op song over and over and I keep forgetting it. It's not as strong as the ed. Strange.

Only seen 2 eps so far. Gotta find the time to watch more. I still love Shirasu(But Kotarou is a diff. story.)! :'( Him getting getting voiced by Sakurai Takahiro was a surprise at first but he's 120% fit for the role. He voiced so many white characters, most of them villains/antagonists. I want to hear him do the cute boyish voices again like Misaki(Junjou Romantica). He's been only voicing mature sounding characters lately.

OAO It already got an English dub?!! I won't watch it cuz I love the Japanese seiyuu but good going(hoping for Cantonese dub too). :D Yay, hope the anime does the manga justice and become the next big thing(after AoT). They should animate the prequels and side stories too.

Jojo(2012) got dubbed in Cantonese! >W< Yeah! I'm going to wait for more episodes before watching it with family(my siblings even though they are young). They've seen me watching it with subs, now I can really share it with them :3. As long as my dad doesn't find out and complain with the it's inappropriate BS.

Nanatsu no Taizai is great. From what I've seen so far, it's faithful to the manga and is as good as I remember it. Ban is voiced by my favorite seiyuu. >////< The op and ed are both great as well. Captivating, op esp. beautiful.

I'm watching the rest of Magical Barristers while I work and watched until the most recent episode of Akatsuki no Yona. Reading some of the manga before eps. A few weeks or so ago I watched all (or at least until the latest episode) of SAO: Gun Gale. I'm always comparing since I read the light novel first.

But, really. The summary of Gun Gale Online: guns, motorcycles, and lightsabers. Fake Yuri Lowell is an added bonus... desu. I am pretty sure I watched it all the day before my psychology test, which I nearly fell asleep during yet somehow made the highest grade in class. And The Devil is a Part-Timer~ Oh, and I was eavesdropping on these silly youngsters talking about GGO as if it was the best thing EVAR. I keep having half the mind to stop working and rant about just how many anime are based off of light novels and visual novels. Dear lunchbox kids.

Some guy was giving me shnit about how I multitask while watching shows, calling it offensive to all the animators who worked too hard on the stuff to only be partially given attention. However, if I didn't effing do other junk at the same time, I wouldn't even attempt watching the episodes indefinitely. And I have done that for countless things; my DVR at 99% has fluffing shows and movies from over TWO YEARS AGO that I haven't had time to watch.

Then some other guy was looking at the art app on my phone a couple days ago to see what I post, and he said that I draw guys as if they were from a yaoi anime. OTL As much as people tell me that, I don't like being told that... Well, he actually said it wrong and called it "yuri" instead, but I knew what he meant. Pfft. Guys don't exist in yuri series.

manga or anime more?

Usually, I like the mangas more.  It's like the whole book being better than the movie thing.  I still love to watch the anime though.

What language?
I watch anime subbed in English.  I can't do dubbed.  It gets a little tricky when the anime takes place in England(like Black Butler), but I still watch it subbed.  I can only read English unfortunately.

Genre, content?

I love romance, slice of life(sometimes), yaoi, horror, scifi, yaoi...

anime/manga plan to watch/read
Black Butler(I watched it,now I need to read it)
Sailor Moon(I'm two episodes in)
Free! (second season)

Currently watching/reading
Parasyte(watching)
Kamisama Kiss(reading)
bunch of yaoi(reading)

I watched very little anime growing up.  In high school I watched Vampire Hunter D, Akira, Battle Angel, and Crying Freeman.  I didn't see any Sailor Moon, but a friend made me watch some Sailor Moon hentai thing and I felt really bad.  =(

later in life a coworker brought me back to anime hard with Utena, Chobits, and Perfect Blue.

Sorry, if this is all scatterbrained.  I am scatterbrained today =(

Do you like manga or anime more?

I love both. Some better in manga and others better in anime

What languages do you like to read/watch in?

when I still have money to buy all manga, I bought many that published in my country
nowadays, i prefer reading scanlation (with english sub) but still buy few that include in my old collection. i also still buy some mangaka works which in my fave area
for anime, i prefer japanese with english sub
can't handle one with english dub..too weird

What genre, content, demographic do you like/fit into?

love romance, josei, comedy, yaoi and shounen-ai, adventure, mystery...almost everything that attract my attention

What anime/manga are you planning to watch/read?

(scanning my long list bookmark of manga )

regarding anime, my list isn't that long. along them would be: Gokujou! Mecha mote Iinchou (I really love her previous works anime Yumeiro Patissiere), Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, Glass Mask, Shounen Hollywood, Miracle Train

What are you currently watching/reading?

I practically eyeing everything new come up at scanlation web
reading everything within my genre fave and waiting patiently their continuation
My fave so far Skip Beat, Garasu no Kamen, Miiko!, Clamp works, Junjou Romantica, Love Stage etc etc ( to many to write here)
and just recently watch Love Stage, Yebisu Celebrities, Koisuru Boikun, Sex Pistols (which i love its manga as well but still ongoing  :crywave:)

[/li][li] Kamisama Hajimemashita (plan to read when finished): loveddd the anime. don't know what it is with me and ayakashi/foxy-like beings but currently getting my fill via EITM's Miyabi :P

Have you tried Inu x Boku SS yet?  I watched the anime and loved it.  Heard the manga is super sad though.

I've read some of Inu x Boku SS. Now, I'm conflicted between continuing or not. It IS sad, in the later chapters. I don't like when main leads die. I had a bad enough experience with Gantz(seinen manga) already. So twisted.

I also prefer reading completed manga. It's excruciating having to wait for new chapters(if there ever will be any) to get scanslated. Eventually I forget about it and end up rereading it from the beginning and feeling the same way. :_;

I keep encountering UtaPri stuff! Should I continue watching the anime despite Haruka's eyes creeping me out all the time? I've managed to watch about 3 episodes so far. I've tried over and over and keep stopping after the first few episodes. I've read doujinshi, and Satsuki seems like an interesting personality.

I love CLAMP stuff. The story-lines and characters are interesting and the art is great. I grew up seeing their works.

I'm too scared to read Inu X Boku because I love those characters so much.  Maybe I'll be in denial for a while and cry if the second season comes out.

Oh man, I was so frustrated when I read Princess Jellyfish and there was a friggon cliff hanger!  I want to only read completed mangas, but I can't help it sometimes!  Especially in the case of Jellyfish where I felt the ending of the anime was super rushed and read the manga to discover I was right.  Also, friggon cliff hanger! :angry2:

Oh, yeah~ I remember mentioning that a couple weeks ago or something in the chatbox~ Ah! And it's the 7th now~

This made me curious, and I checked Cafe Chat's timestamps to see what I was blathering on about at the time.

I am fangasming. I went to the upcoming anime list and saw the one with the magical boys. I just. YES GIMME. Gaaah, I need more mahou shounens in my life. It's not the same when it's Itsuki since she's still a girl. And what happened to that show I heard about several years ago that definitely did have a magical boy who was competing against a magical girl... love tension... Aagh. Not Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne.

Poor Pluto. I always wondered what they would do to Pluto in Crystal. Guess I'll watch some more SMC~ It has finally gotten to the more refreshing spots which diverge completely from the old anime. Oh, manga-ness~~

I am also looking forward to the next season of Aldnoah.Zero~! I watched the whole first season last month, and I was so happy to spend a day alone watching the last episode. I did not realize it was the last of that season, so it's great that I won't have to wait long. Then again, I rarely watch anime series until there are at least a few or all episodes out, so I might put it off. And there's so much to watch! Before I left the country, I bookmarked so many anime series so that I could enjoy them while away, but that failed instantly when I found out wifi was scarce. So it ended up only being Aldnoah and one episode of SMC, as I needed my otome games more. I think that I'll look at my bookmarks again to see what I can watch over the next couple of days, though I really shouldn't. Still have a month's worth of television recordings to watch.

And otome games.

Reading Jack, The American Ghost and I'm almost all caught up. T^T The first chapter was a bit scary but after that it gets a lot more interesting. I like the heroine too. She doesn't scare easily. Hnnng didn't really enjoy the love triangle. I'm hoping that there will be a happy ending.
I'm starting to think that I'm never going to like (demon)butlers called Sebastian.

Gotta wait for more chapters of Sekai Oni again. Just when It's getting dangerous/serious too.

Upcoming anime looks good. So much anime, that it's hard to keep track of them all. Here's a few of the shoujo/otome/fem. demo. flavor.

Also Norn9 anime when? How long has it been since it was announced?

Do you like manga or anime more?
In general I like shoujo better in manga form and shounen better as anime.

What languages do you like to read/watch in?
Read: mainly English, some Japanese. Watch: mainly Japanese,  English only if I grew up with it or if I'm a fan of the voice actors.

What genre, content, demographic do you like/fit into?
I'm into shoujo, shounen and kodomo, and to a lesser extent seinen and josei. I love comedy, but I'm often torn between romance and action. My fave genre probably involves Bosozoku or yankii/delinquents. But I still like supernatural stuff too, like ghosts, vampires, kami & demons etc. I also like futuristic stuff, robots, psychological stories, mystery etc. Being an otoge fan I of course like reverse harems (and can't get enough of 暁のヨナ).

What anime/manga are currently watching/reading?
Watch: Arcana Famiglia, Kuroko no Basuke 3, Show by Rock, UtaPri 3, Psycho Pass 2...
Read: Akatsuki no Yona, Skip Beat, Noblesse (though that's manhwa), Gekkan shoujo Nozaki-kun, Hell's Kitchen, Kigurumi Guardians, Kyou kara ore wa!!, Yankii-kun to Megane-chan...

Being late to the game (don't most people get into this stuff in their teens? Haa), I haven't seen a lot of anime, and have never read manga. Sailor Moon is the obvious anime (does it count?) and I have loved that one since I was a kid. The only other anime I've seen is the cute ones like Fruits Basket and Spice Wolf, and Black Butler - which was creepy, but I loved.

Someone mentioned elsewhere on this site that a game called "Amnesia: Memories" is coming out in English on Steam in the fall. So after looking it up and falling in love with the idea, I discovered it was based on an anime.

So, I'm literally watching Amnesia, episode 7, right now! lol I tried watching it a few days ago and the videos weren't cooperating. :P So I started it over this morning on youtube. I love it. Kento is my favorite, I think. I think this anime might be my favorite.

That's sort of the opposite. Amnesia's anime is based on the otome game. *slaps this down* (http://kokoro-cafe.net/index.php/topic,777.0.html) But that anime is one of the better ones. It is usually a hit or miss for those anime versions, more on the miss side. Amnesia was only, like, thirteen episodes, too.

Ah, well, I suppose I assumed the other way around simply because what I've read about the upcoming game seemed to parallel the show pretty well. :) I really wish I could play the other games!

Yeah, I saw 12 episodes of Amnesia. At this point, I've watched it through twice and Kent's episode more than that because I'm totally in love lol.

Amnesia is prolly the only otome TV anime I've finished so far. Haven't finished Dialovers, Hakuoki, Broconflict, Hiiro no Kakera, Utapri, Arcana Famiglia etc.
Oh yeah, I did watch the Alice in the Country of Hearts movie twice.

I've pretty much watched them all and mainly and mostly just for the voice actors. The actual anime bores me to death but the voices and pretty art keep me going. Only one i really really really liked was Hakuouki b/c there is actually action and things going on rather than heres an episode for each character and lets act like the last episode didnt happen.

I just could not watch Diabolik Lovers in one sitting. That anime just made me feel so icky and i cringed, oh did i cringe. THE SOUNDS!!!
I played one route and it was Reijis and omg it was so weird. I then read the summaries of all the other characters and pretty much the same deal. Thatss when i knew yandere otoge was not my thing. BUT damn are they eye candy...

;_; This topic is so...quiet.

Anime I've started watching this Summer 2015 season:
Overlord - this one is my fav. so far. Staying logged in to a game and seeing it become reality. That would be even more awesome if it was an otome game instead, wouldn't it?
Makura no Danshi - pillow boys!
Gangsta
Dragon ball Super
Junjou Romantica 3 - Sakurai Takahiro voicing Misaki once again

Anime I plan to watch airing this Summer 2015 season:
Miss Monochrome: The Animation 2nd Season
Wooser no Sono Higurashi: Mugen-hen
Kangoku Gakuen
Denpa Kyoushi
Charlotte
Rokka no Yuusha
Himouto! Umaru-chan
Akagami no Shirayuki-hime
Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace
Aoharu x Kikanjuu
Pikaia!

Of the summer lineup above, I've only finished Overlord so far. lol

Fall anime I'm watching:
Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans - Really excited about this show. Hope it doesn't let me down. I quite like Orga and Mikazuki so far. Gundam design is okay. Best OP theme this season imo.
Dance with Devils - Good anime so far, Ritsuka is a likeable MC so far imo Lindo best guy(see my avatar, damn I sure do like oniisans)
One-Punch Man - superhero x slice of life, pretty interesting, too bad it's not actually Anba's theme that they used
High School Star Musical - somewhat awkward, somewhat boring, but tolerable so far
Diabolik Lovers: More;Blood - I'm just watching for Yuuma
Young Black Jack - Total eye candy, I like. Scars are sexy. Too bad he's so unlucky, always landing in some sticky situation. Annoying intern chick.
Owari no Seraph: Nagoya Kessen-hen: Need more Guren and Shinya. Less Ferid.
Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider - Just watching for Suzuki Tatsuhisa's voice too. But hey murder mystery.
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru - more mystery
