Game Play:Pure Love is a free visual novel type game. It is structured like a choose your own route kind of book where there is a set storyline. Along the way choices are presented to the player. The game begins with a prologue, afterwards the player is led to a 'choose a route' menu in which the player picks a guy and continues with the story. Depending on the choices picked in the route, the ending could be a "Happy Ending" or a "Bad Ending." Since Pure Love is a free app, there is a limitation of four chapters every 24 hrs. The only way around that is to buy refills for the chapters. CG moments are also not saved unless the player buys "Memories" passes.
Personal Review:Review-Pros: FREE, characters (definitely some
moments), few cliff hangers
Cons: GRAMMAR and spelling
Truth be told this was far from my favorite otome game when I first started. I've only played through one route so far so I can't make a completely fair judgement. The art is pretty good, almost as good as Voltage games. The storyline or perhaps it was just the prologue that started out a bit boring but it definitely picked up in the character route. I didn't find myself eager to proceed to the next chapter like I did with Be My Princess though which has a similar game setup. This may have been partially due to there being very few cliff hangers at the end of each chapter, which was a good thing for my wallet. What gave me such a negative view of the game was the lack of editing in their script especially prologue. I understand a few spelling errors here and there and maybe even grammatical errors, but there were times where it was just hard reading the dialogue and this was a consistent problem throughout the game. The prologue was perhaps the worst of it. I even thought of exiting and deleting the game because it was that bad. However, after making it through the prologue portion I found myself slowly enjoying each chapter more and more. I was even willing to put up with the errors to find out the rest of the story. It also helped that these mistakes were seen much less than in the prologue. Aside from the scripting errors, this game is definitely not as PG rated as Voltage games and there aren't many times when the player needs to make a choice in the story. In fact, since there is no save option I would advise the player to pick their choices very very carefully. I played Hiro's route and was at 70% on the love meter then one wrong choice dropped it to 40% with a bad ending. So now I'm replaying it again to see what other endings there are but that will take another 2 weeks to get through.
Other than scripting errors (which is why I rated the game so low) this really is a great game. There are a few heart pounding moments. I just wish they spent more time editing their scripts before throwing it out there. My expectations for a free game is usually rather low but for a game that is mainly based on reading, more care should have been taken on translating and making everything coherent. I do really enjoy this game though, so any problems can be overlooked to a certain extent.
