I thought about discussing this in the chat, but thought it might take long and also might be helpful to others :>

I recently found my wacom tablet and set it up, which I haven't used since I got my Mac (because I didn't know from where to install the driver...)
Besides...didn't use it much in the first place o3o

As for softwares, I only know Paint tool sai and photoshop where you can draw, but PTS is for windows and Photoshop...it's...not exactly for drawing ^^;; (ex: the blending tool is not very satisfactory...can't adjust the pressure for pen tool, and change the size when the path is either filled or stroked...)
So, I wanted to know any good softwares for drawing on Mac and Windows (for others)

List of drawing softwares:

Mac
Photoshop ~ http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop.html

Windows
Photoshop ~ http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop.html

Paint Tool Sai ~ http://painttool-sai.en.softonic.com
http://systemax.jp/en/sai/

*I have only been drawing with pencil on a paper, black and white, so I'm not very accustomed with digital drawing, but for now I have only been sketching ^^;;

I know plenty of people who use Photoshop for drawing... In fact, most people probably do. Some people are even incredibly successful using the mouse instead of a tablet. Props to them. When I was using my tablet on some Macs, I had to get others to install the driver for me because I had no idea how to navigate on a non-Windows. Fun times~

I use SAI, and that is pretty much all I use for straight drawing and painting. It opens fast, and I really don't need the fancy filters and crap. On the occasion that I need text I use GIMP. LOL All I need to do is add my preferred text styles to the directory, and it's just fine for an open source thing. Photoshop is personally too slow, and GIMP gets amazingly slow when opening if you added too many additional files, which is why I only have the barest number of added fonts.

One program that I have wanted since its release is Clip Studio Paint, partially because I do not want MangaStudio. So... yeah... http://www.clipstudio.net/en

However, as you ARE on mobile devices, you could consider investing on Android Tablet/iPad drawing apps plus pen (USB drawing tablet pens are typically not compatible~). The better equipped ones obviously require money, but there are also free ones. Of course, it kinda sucks to draw flow-y things with your finger because fingers do not give pressure sensitivity.

In photoshop, I feel like the blending tool is not blending the color enough, and for pen tool, it's kind of hard to go back (draw the line-> adjust it-> fill/stroke it-> delete the line and then finally see how it turned out)...I like using my keyboards to change the tools (which is a big plus for photoshop ^^) so when I click command+Z (it goes back), another command+Z (it goes forward) although it's small, but my force of habit...to click com.+z and keep going back...

Oh yeah, MangaStudio! I had it as an additional/gift(?) software when I bought my tablet, but it's for Windows TvT

wow...you're all have Photoshop on your PC/Mac? I used to spend 8-10 hours a day, pratically glued to my chair in my computer lab at uni, when I had deadline cause I didn't have it on my laptop until my ex got me Photoshop on my laptop. Not the latest version but it helped me a lot and my friends' jaw dropped to the floor when they saw this program installed on my laptop hahaha we're all poor students  :giggle:  You can pratically use Photoshop to draw everything.  I don't see any problem too running Photoshop on Mac. My prof and all his asisstants, all are using Mac.

I used SketchUp too to draw. It's pretty fun and it helps a lot if you work in a group.

Despite owning photoshop myself

Windows Journal ~
I'm not sure where you can download it, it was preinstalled on my Windows 7 tablet laptop and my previous one with Windows XP. (Back in my day, the phrase 'tablet computer' referred to these laptops not ipads!) I've just always felt more at ease drawing on lined paper, so even though I now have photoshop I usually prefer to use Windows Journal.

I have also in the past used and liked Paint.Net which personally clicked with me better as a free photoshop alternative than GIMP had.
Here's an example of something I made with that program:

I only used Google Sketchup for concepts, but I have not had that program in years. If only everything were compatible with every OS, though. I went to check on the other programs I know of but they all turned out to be Windows-only.

Yeah I am such a Windows girl~
Nothing against iOS/Mac, just doesn't click with me personally
I took two levels of Photoshop/CS5 courses in college specific to my desired career, and all the computers in the classroom were Macs. I was the black sheep always rebooting mine into the Windows partition XD

I tried autodesk sketchbook, but not much of a very good option...very limited amount of available free colors...maybe it would fit to do an impressionism o3o

Also have tried GIMP a little bit...its ok, but haven't really explored much yet, so can't put much opinions...

In the end decided to use photoshop..~v~ found out, I totally suuuuuuuuck at shading and highlighting T^T

Yeah the problem I encounter when I try to draw a piece start to finish in photoshop is that I end up making it more complicated for myself.
Also you'd be surprised how long my crude doodles can take, I have to get that sloppiness just right! XD

The only thing I have done differently from the photoshop default isI think I set a higher limit on the amount of 'go backs' and also set a different key shortcut for it, because I'd always forget. I think I have mine as CTRL+ALT+Z which I find easier. Hm I may have also set one for 'go forward' probably CTRL+ALT+Y.

I second Paint.Net. My brother recommended it to me. I had it on my old laptop.

There was another Japanese program that I liked. It's free and available in English. I think it's called Pixia.

I prefer drawing in-browser since it loads faster than Photoshop or other installed programs. I use either Pixler Editor or DeviantArt's daMuro or w/e it's called. I don't even use most of the tools that PS has nor do I really need them. It's fine as long as it has layers, and I can export the images.

Kind of hard to get a hang of it...does it have a pressure-...err is it pressure sensitive? (that turned out a bit strange....tbh idk how to call it :I ) and can I rotate the picture?

Pretty fun to watch yourself speed-paint xD

I have never used Muro. Never even clicked it. I'd only glance at the button whenever I'd log into DA. =w= I used the Stack thing (or whatever it was called) way more, but I guess it does not matter since I never login anymore.

When it comes to websites with a drawing program, there is also Rate My Drawing with Flash and Java. Flash for watching your drawing being drawn, no line pressure, ink limit. Java for a greater variety of functions, including tablet pressure. You can export as both a PNG and spare file for future access and adjustment. I only happened to recently login to RMD once just to doodle without posting, but it was easy to slide back into. You can't rotate, though. I think. Forgot.
