I've disliked Estel since I played Ray's route first. And then when I started Estel's, he was even worse.

And maybe go for Merlin too. I figured Merlin's like a trans or something like that. Apparently the translators can't decide whether Merlin is male or female, using pronouns for both genders.

Lol really you guys. I don't see what y'all see in Estel! Is his story worth playing? and Ethan's? I haven't been playing since I'm collecting swords to proceed with Ray's story, and I didn't want to waste time on the others when I don't like them much. I see Estel as a disagreeable character and Ethan as... 1 dimensional I guess, without much presence

so I was thinking it could be romantic. And it was. But in the other stories, that is not the case.

I have been wanting to talk about Magic Sword since this thread popped up, but I decided to wait and set aside my draft because I seem to encroach on every facet of the forum with no Aya to counteract me. Then I forgot. 8^D

I like the characters' rather simple clothing, but Ethan just looks rather generic. Maybe that's why they made him a redhead. There's almost always a redhead in visual novels — in anime and manga. But the way their bodies are drawn looks so stiff. This is me being all nitpicky on the details, but Ethan looks incredibly lanky for a broadsword wielder. Yet they make a big issue as to how capable he is in swordplay because of his muscular body. And while I'm all up on Ethan, his

I was mushy over Estel for a while, it was truly only because of my weakness for those ears. But the feeling wore off already. It just followed the typical path of cheesy affection, creating distance, and then coming to terms with 'ooh, screw the rules; I

Though I deliberately chose to play the Normal Ending first, I could not stand how halfhearted he was in staying with the MC. All that pomp, when he was willing to give up at the first sign of disproval? Pishaw. Everything about him seemed too... human. The existence of that promiscuous female elf made her seem like every other typical high and mighty wealthy woman who wants to monopolize the man goods. At the end of Estel's route, the exchange between Estel and Arthur was plainly odd.

I am nearing the ending for Ray, and his story does seem to stand out as the strongest. I just incredulously raise my eyebrow at all this childhood bonds stuff. Reading other routes, though, it is a little heartbreaking that he masks his feelings. His lack of tact is such a lie.

Considering that this game was made into a +Version, I really hope for an Arthur route. And they really could have just made Merlin a young man, rather than a young, boobilicious woman. Alas, the plot was driven by Merlin's supposed

Maybe the writers were forced to do this because of the lack of any other female sprites. I know at least one historical bishoujo VN that turned all the guys into women, so perhaps it is a lame attempt at fanservice for men.

I finished Ray's route -*spoilers*- but it made me really uncomfortable when he was like... love me or you can die. It was written with a tone that tells you that he's not joking about it and he'd actually let her die if she didn't fulfill his needs. That was really weird and controlling and creepy to me. Red flags everywhere.

I started Ethan's route too but that sexism was so off-putting that I just couldn't continue.

Okay, I get it, otome games are meant to fulfill some sort of shoujo fantasy - but like... there's a line drawn between sexual submission and sexual power play, and disrespecting the female MC as a person - controlling/manipulating her emotionally, or viewing her as a inherently weaker and lesser because she's a girl...

I'd really like to see Arthur too! he seems like a man of integrity ^^ not to mention he's really attractive lol

Finally continuing Ray's route after a waiting a long time to gather swords for the darn checkpoint. I wanted a longer scene with Ray in the room and the meido outfit. *licks lips* cosplay :-Þ
And when Arthur appeared, I have to say that I was a tad disappointed because he wasn't as beautiful as I was expecting. He looked pretty normal, but seems sane and humane. I still prefer Ray, but Arthur trumps Estel and Ethan.

I like that Ray was direct and up front about it. No more holding back. I'm possessive so I don't like him sneaking off and talking with another woman. Mutual feelings so it's okay.

I really liked Ray's route, I found myself using all my energy and getting mad at being unable to get through checkpoints because I just wanted to keep reading more and more of it!

I agree about Ethan, I started his route next after Estel 'cause I was saving Ray for last (weakness for dark-haired guys) but I got to about chapter 2ish and I just couldn't take his attitude anymore so I switched to Ray early.

Btw, does anyone know if this game will have spin-off/event stories? I'm done with Ray and Estel and just can't bring myself to go back to Ethan...

If not, I guess I'll just train/build up charm & gem in the hopes of a route for Arthur...

I agree. Magic sword got a nice plot. Beside character flaws and some bummers, the game is great. I do too wish for an Arthur route. Doesn't everyone? Why not make a letter requesting an  Arthur route.. My favorite so far is Ray's route though.
