So recently, Voltage held another annual poll where fans voted for their favorite ikemen (through buying certain substories on the Game app to then connect on the Koi Cafe App). 55 characters from a particular selection of games were eligible for voting. Just posting the results here for kicks and later reference, I guess.

I've also put the ranking they had in 2014 in the form of (+/-) if applicable; + signifies that their ranking is "worse" by that many places than last year, and - as "better". There are a lot of new characters this time around though, so a lot of them weren't ranked last year because they simply didn't exist. herp

5) Eisuke Ichinomiya (Kissed by the Baddest Bidder) - 135589 VOTES (+1)
6) Seiji Himuro (Metro PD: Close to You) - 113459 (N/A)
7) Hyogo Kaga (Her Love in the Force) - 108976 VOTES (N/A)
8) Hideki Ishigami (My Sweet Bodyguard / Her Love in the Force) - 107896 VOTES (+3)
9) Soryu Oh (Kissed by the Baddest Bidder) - 99370 VOTES (-2)
10) Ayumu Shinonome (Her Love in the Force) - 99178 VOTES (N/A)

I guess MPD and HLITF are pretty popular in Japan? I think in the ENG-speaking communities, those games are among the less popular ones :0 I wonder what's the reason for the difference /chin scratch

My friend said MPD has really great stories! I've been trying to get my hands on Kissed by The Baddest Bidder, Love Letter from Thief X, and Scandals in the Spotlight (I think this last one is new, but it's already pretty popular? :o). I'm surprised Leon from SCM is so below Zyglavis, Scorpio, and Huedhaut in rank #34

Uh, I always couldn't seem to connect the Cafe app with the game app although I'd been doing it just like how the instruction said

No characters from BMP/BMP2 were eligible for voting, sadly :c
2014 had Will, Sieg, and Ivan, but nothing this year. I think if they were in the poll this year, they'd probably be near the bottom /weeps. I think the dedicated BMP fans really only chill on the social games nowadays.
Though on the Valentine Poll this year, Will and Ivan were brought out near the end as the "surprise" characters from the older games...so they aren't *completely* forgotten. orz

But the exclusion of True Love Sweet Lies on the election is bothersome. It's also pretty new, but I hear that it (+ some other games) are going to be discontinued from being able to connect to the Cafe App. I guess it's at its demise. dun dun dun dead voltage games

SISTC is pretty popular, I have no idea where the boom came from. I guess people *really* wanted to date true idols. I've only bought Iori's stories (they're...meh - he's a little too Do-S for comfort), but I heard Kyohei is one of the better (aka tad less of a dick) Voltage ore-sama types.

The 2014 voting result was my reason why I bought all Nomura's routes in one go. To be honest, I won't put Nomura on ikemen list. Just look at that awful goatee! Lucky I followed the voting list and his route are good.

I wonder why there isn't any guy from Dreamy Days in West Tokyo in top 10 considered Voltage wrote season 3 (the honeymoon). Also none from Thief X too??? Is there a new ikemen trend there in Japan?

I think S3 DDIWT was released in Japan in early 2014 (Ichigo was February-ish iirc, and he's third in the DDIWT route release lineup so take that as you will), and the 2014 Election had Haruki + Johji too. I guess by 2015 DDIWT was kinda old news :c

Japan tends to like different stuff? There are pretty big differences in polls for anime/manga as well. But even so, I still wonder about Ryoichi. It wasn't the worst route in party, but it definitely wasn't one of the best either... maybe his story in the paid app is a loooooot better? Heard of cases like that, though the other way around (Party story being better).

I don't get really get the appeal of Ryoichi either, but then the more I look at the rankings the more I just get...somewhat confused. So then I just stop x_x

In related news, Voltage is announcing that they're hosting a General Election over here, with 46 characters between 5 categories eligible to vote between July 28th - Aug 11th on the Sweet Cafe App (looks like purchases may not be required, but more to come).

Characters that are likely to be included in the vote are below.
My personal speculations are in purple, watch me get 80% wrong orz
but I am willing to sell my soul and a leg to bet that Eisuke will be first. bah, everyone needs to realize that the best brunet ore-sama has always been...yamato. or kakeru.

I judged from the state of the fandom (who are less predictable than JPN after the typical favorites, you all need to just stick with one personality type and love that 4eva wheeze), but for all I know they could just pick recent releases which would be make me cri bc I didn't account for KMOCH or SAC. /flop

now my speculated list is complete trash because they only decided to pick more recent apps that have been released (sans MFW). But to be fair, people who play the paid apps nowadays usually like those games better because well... they actually update here, obviously.

But I'm surprised HLITF did not make the cut. maybe not really but still kind of

Guess I'll put all of my votes to Kirisawa, Nomura, and Tsumugu-chan.

In my opinion, his stories in paid app are much much better compare to party version. That's why I can leave SCP behind (and now focus only to BMPP), because stories in paid app are more superior than in SCP. Honestly Chihaya is more my type in term of personality, but Ryoichi's story is just that good (in paid-ver) and now he's stuck as one of my top bias list because of his route ONLY. Not because his personality or pretty face.

This is just me, but I saw Voltage JP's result is more to 'most favorite route', rather than 'Ikemen Award'

No guys in Top 10 Voltage JP's poll are my bias (except Ryoichi of course, and maybe Tsumugu-chan too). But their stories are absolutely on top of my most favorite routes. Especially Kirisawa and Nomura.

The guys are more or less similar when it comes to personalities, I think it's the story that makes them more or less exciting in comparison

About the voting, not gonna take part in it, not interested in Clover Hill (I played the free chapters from the two characters, and it didn't make me want to read more, even though I was really excited about this game given the setting :( super sad about it.. ) or Astoria.
We can also buy ballots by buying them with real money, directly.

I'm pretty distressed that the "Dangerously in Love" substories are $2.99 each e_e In Japan, the ballot substories were ¥120? Granted, the JPN stories might have been shorter, but my cheapskate self does not approve.

But in fandom news, people seem to be more outraged that the characters of the older games aren't allowed in the ballot. I can understand the disappointment, but I can also see why Voltage didn't include them.
I hate to say it, but the games that are bringing in the most $$$ nowadays are the ones in the election.
Fans of the older games like BMP+SITSC are putting their money towards the Party games rather than other Paid games, so why bother putting in extra effort towards a smaller return since Voltage Inc. would have to make substories from scratch (since 80% of the excluded games haven't been in an election in years)?

...Well, fans of HLITF can get mad. I honestly have no defense for that game being excluded. I demand justice for the dessert popo
