Here are something that I found while playing. No, choosing a Brilliant answer does not make your Lessons increase your Charm and Mina by 5. Lessons and answers are completely different circumstances. You have a high chance of getting a +1 for Charm if you get a "Good Job!" I suppose that it is a lower or particularly low chance that you can get a "You are brilliant" during your Lessons. Out of maybe 20-30ish Lessons, I only got one "brilliant," which rose my Charm by 10. The chance to fail ("Try Harder!"), though, is moderate, as is the "You are great!" which gives 3 Charm.

"Good job" also gives 5 Mina in addition to 1 charm.
"You are great" also gives 15 Mina in addition to the 3 charm.
